NEW CLIP from That's What I Am - In Theaters This Friday

Official Synopsis:

Set in California against the backdrop of the mid-sixties, That’s What I Am is a coming-of-age story that follows 12-year-old Andy Nichol (Chase Ellison), a bright student who, like most kids his age, will do anything to avoid conflict for fear of suffering overwhelming ridicule and punishment from his junior high school peers.

Everyone’s favorite teacher, Mr. Simon (Ed Harris), pairs Andy with the school’s biggest outcast and social pariah, Stanley aka “Big G” (Alexander Walters), on a critical school project. Sporting thick orange hair, a head too big for his body and ears too big for his head, “Big G” has been the object of ridicule since grade school. Before long, Andy will learn that there was truly a method behind Mr. Simon’s madness as to why he teamed these two up.

After a dramatic incident in the schoolyard, teachers and parents rethink their roles in school and society. Principal Kelner (Amy Madigan) suspends a school bully for brutally beating up a female classmate. The vindictive father of the bully makes Mr. Simon the target of a malicious rumor about his sexuality, causing Mr. Simon to question his calling as an educator and mentor to his students.

When Andy watches “Big G” fearlessly confront the school bully about the incident, a series of events are triggered. Much to Andy’s surprise, he learns that “Big G” is a brilliant, kind, tolerant human being, who as more dignity than anyone Andy has ever encountered.

Big G personifies Mr. Simon’s four word answer on how to obtain world peace:

HUMAN DIGNITY + COMPASSION = PEACE.

TO CATCH A DOLLAR Sparks New American Financial Literacy Campaign!

The Allstate Foundation, Dress for Success and the producers of the documentary To Catch a Dollar today launched an innovative new financial literacy initiative that encourages Americans to take concrete steps to improve their financial futures. The ‘My Dollar My Life’ campaign will provide Americans with the opportunity to make specific promises to change their financial health and, for the first 10,000 promises made, The Allstate Foundation will make a $1 donation to Grameen America.

“We’re honored to spearhead the ‘My Dollar My Life’ project,” said Vicky Dinges, Vice President for Public Social Responsibility at Allstate Insurance. “With each promise, we grow closer to an America where people not only understand the importance of planning for their financial future, but where people are actively building a stable financial future for themselves and their families. It’s our hope that this campaign will bring attention to financial empowerment for all Americans.”

To participate in ‘My Dollar My Life,’ users can visit tocatchadollar.com/promise and facebook.com/tocatchadollar, where they will have the ability to commit to one of a number of promises to improve their financial future, from contributing to a 401K to passing up an unnecessary purchase to save money. With each promise made, users will have the option of sharing their commitment on their Facebook newsfeed and The Allstate Foundation will donate $1 to the Grameen America branch fund for the first 10,000 promises made.

“Dress for Success has long placed a priority on improving financial literacy for women – especially those seeking to lift themselves out of poverty,” said Joi Gordon, CEO of Dress for Success Worldwide. “The ‘My Dollar My Life’ initiative is a unique way to pursue this objective, combining the power of storytelling with the reach of social media to create real impact.”

Audiences in hundreds of theaters across the country watched To Catch a Dollar on March 31, the story of the first Grameen America branch in the United States and how its borrowers are using small loans to build businesses and improve their lives. The Allstate Foundation and Dress for Success were supporters of the film’s launch event and are partners in its ongoing economic empowerment campaign designed to educate, assist and activate a growing community supporting microfinance services in the United States. Throughout the month of April, in partnership with leading activist and advocacy organizations, the To Catch a Dollar community is exploring issues related to the film and relevant for America today: women in poverty, the plight of the “unbanked” in America, savings and financial literacy, and policy solutions. Visitors can learn more at www.tocatchadollar.com.

To Catch a Dollar tells an important story, but more than that, it demonstrates to audiences that there are challenges facing women in this country, but there are also solutions – so long as we are willing to take the steps needed to reach them,” said Gayle Ferraro, director and producer of the film. “As a filmmaker, it’s an honor to work with organizations like the Allstate Foundation and Dress for Success to extend the reach of my film to have real impact in people’s lives. We’re excited to get started.”

The My Dollar My Life campaign will begin today and continue throughout the week on www.tocatchadollar.com.

DreamWorks THE HELP: Trailer

Based on one of the most talked about books in years and a #1 New York Times best-selling phenomenon, “The Help” stars Emma Stone (“Easy A”) as Skeeter, Academy Award®–nominated Viola Davis (“Doubt”) as Aibileen and Octavia Spencer as Minny—three very different, extraordinary women in Mississippi during the 1960s, who build an unlikely friendship around a secret writing project that breaks societal rules and puts them all at risk. From their improbable alliance a remarkable sisterhood emerges, instilling all of them with the courage to transcend the lines that define them, and the realization that sometimes those lines are made to be crossed—even if it means bringing everyone in town face-to-face with the changing times.

Deeply moving, filled with poignancy, humor and hope, “The Help” is a timeless and universal story about the ability to create change.

In celebration of the release we have some Q&A's we wanted to share with you as well as some clips.

Find out about Ashley Tisdale's first audition, favorite places in New York City, her personal sense of style, what life was like on the set of Sharpay, 10 thing you never new about Sharpay's Fabulous Adventure and more!

10 THINGS YOU NEVER KNEW ABOUT
 SHARPAY’S FABULOUS ADVENTURE
Pssst! Want to know the hottest on-set secrets about the fab new movie, Sharpay’s Fabulous Adventure? We catch up with Ashley Tisdale and the rest of the crazy cast to bring you the lowdown…

SHARPAY SECRET #1
ASHLEY TISDALE HAD A LOT OF INPUT INTO THE LOOK OF SHARPAY!
Ever since Day One of the first High School Musical, I always had loads of ideas for Sharpay,” admits Ashley Tisdale. “I’d say things like, ‘Obviously, this chick [Sharpay] is crazy so why don’t I wear this skirt as a top?’ And that’s exactly what we’d end up doing! I think Sharpay looks great in the new movie. She’s growing up, but she still loves pink.”

SHARPAY SECRET #2
THERE WERE NO DOGGIE DISASTERS!
“Thankfully, there weren’t any doggy mishaps on the set of Sharpay’s Fabulous Adventure,” giggles actor Bradley Steven Perry.  The dogs were really good on the set. They were really well trained and well behaved. They were a joy to work with!”

SHARPAY SECRET #3
ASHLEY CELEBRATED HER BIRTHDAY ON THE SHARPAY SET!
“It’s my birthday on July 2, but I had to work it last year because I was busy shooting Sharpay’s Fabulous Adventure,” reveals Ashley. “I ended up celebrating it on the set, which was really cool! The cast and crew decorated my trailer and we had some amazing birthday cake. It was definitely a birthday to remember!”

SHARPAY SECRET #4
ASHLEY JUMPED AT THE CHANCE TO CONTINUE SHARPAY’S STORY!
“I love Sharpay, so I was really excited to jump on board with this new movie,” explains Ashley. “You don’t get to meet great characters like Sharpay too often, so I felt like I wanted to do this for my fans. The High School Musical franchise made me successful and Sharpay made me who I am in this business, so I wanted to go back and let her have her very own end to a great story.”

SHARPAY SECRET #5
ASHLEY MISSED HER HSM BUDDIES!
“I’m with an all-new set of actors on Sharpay’s Fabulous Adventure because this is Sharpay’s solo story,” adds Ashley. “But I really missed my friends from High School Musical during the film shoot! It was really weird to walk onto the set as Sharpay without Zac and Vanessa being around. I missed them.”

SHARPAY SECRET #6
ASHLEY’S CELL PHONE INSPIRED SHARPAY’S RHINESTONE OBSESSION!
“Sharpay’s obsession with rhinestones goes back to the very first High School Musical,” reveals Ashley. “When we were shooting the first film, I went to the mall and got my cell phone covered in rhinestones. Everyone was doing it at the time. It was cool! As soon as the director [Kenny Ortega] saw it, he yelled, ‘Oh my gosh! It would be so great if Sharpay had rhinestones all over her outfits.’ He was totally inspired by my cell phone!”

SHARPAY SECRET #7
ASHLEY IS NOTHING LIKE SHARPAY IN REAL LIFE!
“Sharpay and Ashley are very different people,” chuckles Ashley. “Sharpay wears much more pink than I do in real life and she’s much more self-obsessed. I’m not a diva! However, Sharpay’s got a huge passion for acting and singing – and so have I.”

SHARPAY SECRET #8
THE NEW MOVIE IS VERY DIFFERENT TO HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL!
Sharpay’s Fabulous Adventure isn’t a musical, but there are definitely musical elements to the movie,” reveals Ashley. “Sharpay gets to perform some great musical routines, which were a lot of fun to work on. Trust me… You’re going to love it!”

SHARPAY SECRET #9
ASHLEY’S MOM JOINED HER ON THE SET!
“Whenever I had time off from the movie, I would hang out with my mom,” says Ashley. “I was so happy that she came along to Toronto, where we shot the movie. I love my mom! She was always helping out whenever she could!”

SHARPAY SECRET #10
THE NEW DVD IS CRAMMED WITH EXTRAS!
“There are lots of fun extras on the DVD and Blu-Ray discs for Sharpay’s Fabulous Adventure,” giggles Ashley. “There are behind-the-scenes features on the making of the movie, as well as a piece on the evolution of Sharpay’s wardrobe. I hope you guys like it!”

My Take on the DVD
This movie was a pretty good western movie. I didn't know what to expect when I saw the cast, but in watching this I was impressed by the acting and cinematography. There are some aspects that are a bit over-the-top, but what movie isn't this way in some parts. I did enjoy the movie and was not tempted to be distrated within the movie itself. Instead I did stay throughout and was engaged. Some of the acting is just ok, but there were other performances that were reasonable. While this is not another True Grit or Tombstone, it was enjoyable and for anyone who likes westerns, I think you will be dually impressed.

    My Take on the Game
This game is a ton of fun. My daughter and I have been plugging through the story section of the game at first and we both were very impressed with the game play as well as the plot. I was very impressed with the graphics on this game as well. The game was quite interactive and some levels within the game were much more challenging than others (in my opinion) and game controls overall were good, but again there were some games that it did not seem as responsive as others (such as in playing the bongos).

The hardest part of the game, for me, was keeping track of my character in some of the games as some of the games become very busy and it is easy to lost track of your guy and instead just keep hitting buttons hoping that you are hitting what you need to hit.

All-in-all though, this was a fun game and one that I know that we will be playing for a long time to come!

Finally, because Easter wouldn’t be complete without Painting and Decorating Eggs, below you will find some fun ways to design your eggs in the spirit of Winnie the Pooh and Friends!

    Thanks!

    Marshall J

WINNIE THE POOH is our beloved ‘hunny’-loving bear, so why not choose one of his favorite things - a honey jar – to create as an Easter egg? You want it to look like a real honey jar so use tape to cover the top of the egg where the lid will be and also a wide strip of tape around the middle for the ‘HUNNY’ label. Boil half a cup of water, mix in 30-40 drops of blue food dye, and one tablespoon of white vinegar. When it cools, gently lower the egg into the pot. The longer the egg remains in the pot, the darker the color gets! Once you are happy with the color, take it out with a spoon, dry it and remove the tape. Then stick the word ‘HUNNY’ in tape to the egg, and pop it back in the pot, just for a few seconds to make the ‘label’ pale blue. Finally, you can use acrylic paint for a blob of honey and leave the word ‘HUNNY’ in the egg’s natural color. If Pooh could see your Easter egg, he might think it looked so much like a honey jar that he would keep it in his personal collection!

TIGGER would be ecstatically happy about painting Easter eggs. You could have a go at painting an egg that looks like Tigger! First, use an orange watercolor crayon to paint the entire egg orange. While it dries, bounce around a bit – Tigger – style! Then draw in the tiger stripes with a steady hand and a black marker and fill them in with a black watercolor crayon. You can use a pink button for the nose and draw on eyebrows, eyes, mouth and whiskers with the black marker. Tigger-tastic!

EEYORE we all know would probably be less excited about painting Easter Eggs, so why not create one of his favorite food -- thistles, of course! All you need are some crayons, a little spinach and also purple and green acrylic paints. Draw the thistle with a crayon, to prevent the area from being dyed. Boil the spinach, letting it simmer for 45 minutes. Put the egg into the water to color it green. The crayon colored thistle won’t dye (due to the wax in the crayon), so you can use acrylic paints to finish your egg.  Even Eeyore would have to admit it looks pretty sweet.

PIGLET loves his friends, and his motto is “Even if you are rather small you can still have a very big heart.” Why not paint a Piglet style Easter egg, with huge hearts on it? First, draw seven hearts with a marker, and then use small pieces of sponge with different colors to paint the egg. You can paint the whole egg pale blue like the sky and then paint each of the hearts with one of the colors of the rainbow: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo and violet. Piglet would love this Easter egg because it’s small and cute, just like him!

To have more adventures with Pooh and friends go and see WINNIE THE POOH, the brand new film by Disney, in theatres July 15th!

    ABOUT THE MOVIE
Walt Disney Animation Studios returns to the Hundred Acre Wood with “Winnie the Pooh.” Featuring the timeless charm, wit and whimsy of the original featurettes, this all-new movie reunites audiences with the philosophical “bear of very little brain” and friends Tigger, Rabbit, Piglet, Owl, Kanga, Roo—and last, but certainly not least, Eeyore, who has lost his tail.  “Ever have one of those days where you just can’t win, Eeyore?” asks Pooh.  Owl sends the whole gang on a wild quest to save Christopher Robin from an imaginary culprit. It turns out to be a very busy day for a bear who simply set out to find some honey. Inspired by three stories from A.A. Milne’s books in Disney’s classic, hand-drawn art style, “Winnie the Pooh” hits theatres on July 15th!

Grameen America Challenge Gives Hope To Female Entrepreneurs

In an unprecedented theatrical event, audiences in theaters nationwide recently watched “To Catch a Dollar: Muhammad Yunus Banks on America”, learning the story of the Nobel Laureate’s unique and successful model of microfinance and how it is changing lives here in the United States through the nonprofit organization, Grameen America. In addition to the film, moviegoers saw a panel discussion taped in front of a live studio audience in New York on March 9 featuring Professor Yunus, with special guests financial powerhouse Suze Orman, Kiva President Premal Shah and Grameen America President Vidar Jorgensen. The event was introduced by actor Robert De Niro and moderated by CNBC’s Maria Bartiromo. The event played in front of sold-out theaters in several cities, including Washington, D.C., Indianapolis, Seattle, Austin and San Francisco.

“Tonight was a first for independent films like To Catch a Dollar,” said Gayle Ferraro, the documentary’s director and producer. “The entrepreneurs I’ve met along the way – the women empowered by the Grameen model, both here and in 65 countries around the world are an absolute inspiration, and it’s been an honor to be able to share their stories with the public in such a unique way.”

As the program ended Matt Damon reached out to audience members inviting them to find out how they can help at www.tocatchadollar.com, and Hugh Jackman encouraged audiences to take immediate action by supporting the first publicly funded Grameen America branch through a text 2 give campaign. By texting ‘AMERICA’ to 85944, the public will give a $10 donation to Grameen America (a 501(c)3 non-profit organization). Funds raised will go to a future Grameen America branch, a branch selected by the public through an innovative online campaign. Beginning Apr 1st, the public will choose from four candidate cities – Atlanta, Chicago, Los Angeles and Washington, D.C. – and all funds will be earmarked for the launch of a branch in the city selected. Using their Facebook accounts, voters will be able to vote once per week for the life of the contest.

The film’s producers intend to use the event to launch a broader campaign designed to educate, assist and activate a growing community supporting microfinance services in the United States. Throughout the month of April, in partnership with leading activist and advocacy organizations, the To Catch a Dollar community will explore issues related to the film and relevant for America today: women in poverty, the plight of the “unbanked” in America, savings and financial literacy, and policy solutions. In partnership with Dress for Success and generous support from the Allstate Foundation, the producers will also use April to launch the My Dollar, My Life campaign, an effort to encourage Americans to take steps to improve their own financial stability while helping to raise funds for Grameen America.

“Never before has such a spotlight been shown on microfinance here in the United States,” said Vidar Jorgensen, President of Grameen America. “This film is the culmination of years of hard work, but there’s more work to be done. Professor Yunus has taught us that there are solutions to poverty, and it’s up to us to make those dreams realities. Together, we’ll do just that.”

African Cats” Motion Picture Opens on Earth Day, April 22, 2011

“African Cats” is still more than two weeks from opening on Earth Day, but moviegoers have already bought $1.7 million in tickets to see the movie during its opening week (April 22-28) and save the African savanna in the process. Thanks to the “See ‘African Cats,’ Save the Savanna” initiative, Disneynature’s pledge to make a contribution in honor of everyone who sees the film opening week already translates to more than 9,500 acres of land within Kenya’s Amboseli Wildlife Corridor—and that number continues to rise.

“We are very impressed with the passion people are showing for ‘African Cats’—advance ticket sales for this film have surpassed both ‘Earth’ and ‘Oceans’ at this stage of the game, which shows how excited moviegoers are for both the movie and the ‘Save the Savanna’ initiative,” said Alan Bergman, president, The Walt Disney Studios. “The Amboseli Corridor is an essential passage utilized by so many animals in the African savanna. The advance ticket sales so far will allow Disneynature with African Wildlife Foundation’s assistance to conserve more than 9,500 acres of this passage—which equates to 19 Disney’s Animal Kingdoms, or nearly two-thirds the size of Manhattan—and we still have two weeks till opening day.”

“The ‘See “African Cats,” Save the Savanna’ program transforms the moviegoing experience into tangible on-the-ground conservation action. The commitment of Disneynature combined with the passion of moviegoers will raise critical funds to conserve the land that the magnificent species featured in ‘African Cats’ call home,” said Dr. Patrick Bergin, CEO, African Wildlife Foundation. “Through this amazing collaboration, we celebrate our 50th Anniversary together with Disneynature and all the people who are helping establish the Amboseli Wildlife Corridor.”

“See ‘African Cats,’ Save the Savanna” continues Disneynature’s conservation efforts, which began with its first release, “Earth” (2009), for which three million trees were planted in Brazil’s Atlantic Forest. The program in support of “Oceans” (2010) helped establish 40,000 acres of marine protected areas in The Bahamas, which contain miles of vital coral reef.

SEE AFRICAN CATS, SAVE THE SAVANNA
During the films opening week (April 22-28), a portion of the proceeds from that weeks ticket sales will be donated to the African Wildlife Foundation (AWF) through the Disney Worldwide Conservation Fund to ensure the future of lions, cheetahs, elephants, zebras, giraffes and a host of other animals in the vibrant African savanna. The AWF will be working to protect the Amboseli Wildlife Corridor, a passage between the Amboseli, Tsavo West and Chyulu Hills National Parks that is frequently used by a variety of wildlife.

The film, which will be released in theaters worldwide, opens in North America on April 22, 2011. Tickets for groups of 20 or more are already available in the United States by calling 1-888-DISNEY6. Tickets are also available online at www.disney.com/africancats.

There are also a number of innovative online efforts underway that allow moviegoers to pledge their commitment to the film and in doing so, support the cause.
