2011 Independent Spirit Awards Red Carpet

That's a spicy meatball.

Rosario Dawson in Burberry Prorsum Spring 2011 [modified]

Cute. How refreshing to see a starlet wearing something longer than the runway version.

Amanda Peet in Nina Ricci

Man, are we getting tired of the white dress/black tights combo.

Melissa Leo in Marc Bouwer

Faith and begorrah! It's the Queen of the Leprechauns!

Anne Heche in D&G Spring 2011

It's kind of hard to screw this dress up, so for once, she looks not crazy good.

Ashley Bell

Don't wear dresses that match your hair, ladies! Otherwise you look like a novelty doll who belongs on the shelf between Polly Pocket and Strawberry Shortcake.

Ewan McGregor

Ewan, this is very confusing for us. You're still devastatingly cute and you cause salutes in our pants, but we generally make it a rule not to be attracted to the homeless. What's with the flapping cuffs?

Beau Garrett

Cute, if standard.

Eva Mendes in Chanel Spring 2011

Pretty. She seems to have successfully gotten out of a style rut. We're not sure about those shoes.

Gillian Jacobs

Look, we've had our coffee and we're really trying to be the bitches you love, but all we can come up with is another "Cute." But she does look cute, right? We'd quibble about the shoes and bag, but we like the dress.

Greta Gerwig

Okay, no. Not cute. It's not her fault. They threw a lot of electric blue lace down the runways this season, so who can blame her for thinking she can pull it off?

Honey? Said with love; you can't.

Illeana Douglas

Like the dress and hair, salute her ongoing efforts to bring sheer hose to the runway, still confused by her footwear choices.

Jason Ritter

Such a nice young man. Look at that punim.

Hem checks out, fit checks out, and he even managed that VERY rare trick of wearing an unbuttoned shirt with a jacket and having the collar stand up straight instead of wandering all over his neckline and shoulders. He should unbutton his lower jacket button, however. We're getting a whiff of Amish.

Jennifer Lawrence in Dolce & Gabbana Spring 2011

Pretty enough, but some of these stylists need to figure out that white doesn't photograph that well. This is a lovely dress with a lot of detailing and it might as well be a nightgown.

Jeremy Renner

Jeremy Renner wants you to know that his pants! Are very! Tight!

Jon Hamm and Jennifer Westfeldt

This may be the first time we've seen Jennifer in public without the "look what I bagged, bitches" smirk.

Josh Hutcherson

It's a cute and put-together look, but it might be just a bit too casual. Then again, Jon Hamm came as the Unabomber, so the point may be moot.

Kate Walsh in Max Mara Elegante Spring 2011

Bland.

Kerry Washington in Dolce & Gabbana Fall 2010

It's an interesting dress and believe it or not, we think the matchy shoes were the right choice, but the leopard print purse was probably a step too far. The hair is AWFUL.

Liev Schreiber and Naomi Watts in Chanel

"Hi. We are such total douches."

Mark Ruffalo and Sunrise Coigney

We really like her dress, although we're not sure about the shoes. He always looks like he was doing bong hits all day, right up to the point he stepped out of the limo.

Meloni Diaz

For some reason, this dress, while cute, is not our thing. It might be the ruffley straps which take it too far.

Mia Wasikowska in Rodarte for Opening Ceremony

Bored now.

Michelle Trachtenberg in Pamella Roland

Okay, we're still bored with the light dress/heavy dark tights combo, but this little trenchcoat dress is fabulous.

Natalie Portman in Givenchy

We want to like this, but it's just not coming together. A big yellow sash, right over your baby bump isn't drawing the eye effectively.

She's been looking increasingly uncomfortable with each passing week, so we're willing to give her a pass from here until her delivery date. Hey, some women don't glow when they're pregnant and since they're growing a watermelon inside them, we can't really blame them.

Nicole Kidman in L'Wren Scott [not exact match]

Love it. LOVE the shoes. Nice pairing, Nicole.

Sandra Oh

What the what? What is that? We make bedsheet jokes all the time, but that literally looks like a bedsheet with an inexplicable strap.

Amber Tamblyn

That's a cute-on-paper, but highly-unflattering-in-real-life dress. It's also magical; put it on and poof! Your waist disappears!

Sarah Paulson

This would be cute if she was having fruity drinks in a cabana. That hair will never be cute under any curcumstances. It looks like she fell asleep on her couch, woke up 15 minutes ago and said "SHIT! are the Spirit Awards tonight?!"

Trevor Donovan

Hello, cutie. You're too casual. Take those jeans off immediately.

Vera Farmiga

Give her a big basket of tomatoes and she could pose for a pasta sauce label.

Zoe Saldana in Dolce & Gabbana Spring 2011

Lace and animal print in the same takes a bold woman to pull it off. We don't love the hair, but we want to kiss her for the accessories, which are thoughtfully chosen. She's working it.

Okay, kittens. That was our last run-through before the main event tonight, the Academy Awards red carpet. We'll be live-tweeting from the minute the first D-lister arrives, right through until Best Picture is announced. Stick with us for the bitchery, darlings.
